Letter to W PA United Methodist Annual Conference Delegates to GC 2004
Letter to W PA United Methodist Annual Conference Delegates to GC 2004

Hello! Theo here to let you know that CR sent this letter out to the General Conference delegates of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference where CR holds his elder's orders for the ministry. The 2004 General Conference will be hosted by the W PA Conference at Pittsburgh during late April and early May. It promises to be one in which there will be demonstrations and protests, and likely some arrests as well. Only the initials of the delegates are included here as well as the initial of the bishop.

Dear Friends:

You have the high honor of representing thousands of United Methodists of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference at the General Conference meeting in Pittsburgh beginning April 27th.

There will be many issues coming before the delegates at this time. While a number try to dismiss it or perhaps underestimate the strategies that have been implemented for quite some time, the pressure to alter the present stance of the United Methodist Church regarding the practices of sodomy and lesbianism has never been greater. GC 2000 saw "new paths" being charted with the arrest of 2 UMC bishops -- what do you suppose we will see at Pittsburgh in terms of protesting, demonstrations, arrests, etc?

I have been following the activities of the sodomite/lesbian connection rather closely and have posted some of the planned strategies which will be militantly followed by such groups as Soulforce and Affirmation at GC 2004. They have very intelligent people, and are very well organized and solidly financed.

I urge you to vote for the retention of the present language of our Book of Discipline as it applies to moral issues such as sodomy and lesbianism and related matters such as ordination, ministry, etc.

And if possible, please support any legislation which will greatly restrict the abomination of abortion on demand. The toll is now over 43 1/2 million victims since the infamous Roe v. Wade decision of 1973! We are a nation of fools of the first magnitude if we believe God is not going to respond to this deliberate and defiant slap to His face! We've heard very little protesting out of the United Methodist Church on this and the bishops are totally tongue tied when it comes to the United States' unique version of holocaust! While a banner identifying W. Pennsylvania Conference United Methodists was carried in the 2004 March for Life in DC, not many from our conference actually supported the March -- ask Dale Shunk about it.

Thank you for listening a bit to these concerns. There certainly are others, but those mentioned above are at the forefront when it comes to determining whether our culture survives or self-destructs in the future!
