Is Partial Good Enough?
Is Partial Good Enough?

November 11, 2003: As of this date the bill to ban partial birth abortions was signed days ago by President Bush with much fanfare in the presence of "evangelical" church leaders. Immediately it was challenged in court and some judges already have blocked implementation in certain parts of the country. It's looking more and more like this country is going to have to learn the hard way that you don't get away with destroying millions of unborn children and not pay a very heavy price -- Almighty God has yet to make His full response to our heinous practice of decades of shedding innocent blood!

There are numerous experiences in life in which we humans are most unwilling to be content with just a "partial" experience:

  • have you ever had a partial haircut?

  • do you take a partial bath?

  • are teachers satisfied if their students just take a partial test?

  • are you content with a partial oil change for your car -- that is, the auto technician only drains out about 2 quarts of the old stuff and adds 2 quarts of new to the 3 quarts of the old stuff still in the crank case and now you're good for another 3,000 miles!

  • are you satisfied with a partial meal when you feel as though you are starving -- so you take a couple bites of steak, potatoes, and vegetable off that full plate -- then wash it down with a couple of small sips of beverage, remove yourself from the table, and you're on your way to other things!

  • and how about this one -- you have a deadly tumor -- you come out of surgery only to learn that your doctor has done a "partial!" He smiles in response to your question as to whether he removed all of the tumor -- "No, I did a 'partial' on this one. I only took out about 15 % of it -- there's probably at least 85 % of it still in your abdomen. But that's a start -- later on down the road we'll consider dealing with it in more detail! Besides, it would have taken a lot longer if I had tried to take out the whole thing at once!"

There's a point to all this, as crazy as it seems to be. There is a deadly moral cancer that is destroying this nation -- it has been growing in the abdomen of this country for over 30 years -- it's called abortion! It is the heinous practice of destroying thousands of unborn children in the womb every week of the year. Note the record keeper which keeps us updated every few seconds as to how the United States' unique version of "holocaust" is progressing.

Unborn Babies Brutally
Mutilated and Killed

since Roe vs. Wade
January 1973

Ever since those Supreme Court justices who, possessing extreme myopic vision and decayed consciences, ruled that it is a woman's "constitutional right" to destroy her unborn child if she so desires, there has been an ongoing battle over extending the same rights to the unborn as those possessed by U.S. citizens who have made it out of their mothers' wombs safely in one piece!

President Bush made favorable comments on January 22, 2003 during the annual March for Life which was held in Washington DC. His statements were received enthusiastically by the thousands of persons gathered to protest the ongoing practice of abortion on demand.

However, the problem is this -- the president's emphasis seems to be on the issue of ending the horrendous practice of partial birth abortion -- you know, the situation where a baby is but seconds away from birth with all of its body outside its mother's body except for its head -- the head is punctured, the brains sucked out, and then a corpse is born!

As of this writing legislation banning partial birth abortion has just been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on June 4, 2003. The vote was 282 to 139, which indicates that there was opposition to the proposed ban. Some reactions were also interesting: NARAL Pro Choice America President Kate Michelman referred to the bill as "a broad, unconstitutional bill" and that it "sacrifices women's health and future fertility on the altar of extreme right wing ideology." She further stated, "doctors will face criminal charges and prison sentences for giving women and their families the best possible medical care." In response to her statement about "right wing ideology" could it be said, "As the nation now stands, thousands of unborn children are sacrificed each week on the altar of extreme left wing ideology," with Ms. Michelman personifying very accurately that "extreme left wing ideology?"

The very fact that the gruesome and gory practice of partial birth abortion is debated and many elected officials are opposed to banning it provides clear evidence that something is horribly amiss -- that the nation's leadership (elected or appointed, as in case of judges) possess consciences as sensitive as Nazi SS officers in WW II death camps who enjoyed having infants thrown up in the air and used them for target practice with their Luger pistols!

But the BIG question is this -- why make a distinction? Why be partial in this matter -- this amounts to our saying that killing the baby shortly before birth is wrong, but prior to that it's OK and has the blessing and approval of our citizens and our political and church leaders!

Now here's a challenge that a vast majority, including a lot of leaders in the "land of the free, and the home of the brave," will do anything to evade -- do you want to run this subject by our Creator and see how He feels about it? Can't you just picture Almighty God responding with a twinkle in His eye and saying,

"You people in the United States are simply magnificent -- you have your coins and currency inscribed with 'In God We Trust' and you sing and state in a pious manner, 'God Bless America,' and you have your Pledge of Allegiance to your flag in which you say, '…one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.' And now you are going to stop killing babies a few seconds before they are born. That is such a noble gesture that I'm going to bless you and your leaders in a way as you have never been blessed before from the days I raised you up to become the greatest nation in the world!"

Come on folks -- let's really try to get honest for at least a brief moment! So President Bush and the Republicans succeed in getting a partial birth abortion ban on the law books -- will that really impress the One Who is Creator and Sustainer of all life?

There's more than an outside possibility that His immediate response would be something such as this:

"What are you doing about the thousands of unborn children which you continue to destroy each week? I know each of them as well as I know each of you, and I have a special plan for each of them as I have a purpose for each of you during your lifetime on earth!"

At this stage there is no indication whatsoever that the president and his administration will aggressively press for legislation that will put an end to the slaughter of thousands of unborn children each week -- certainly in no way compared to the aggression which was demonstrated in pressing Congress to approve and establish a Department of Homeland Security, or legislation in dealing with the "war on terrorism," or in initiating the invasion of the country of Iraq!

Further, there is no evidence that those persons who have shown an interest in tossing their hats in the ring and making a bid for the presidency of this republic will be much concerned about ending the wholesale "shedding of innocent blood" -- if anything a number of them give the thumbs up approval that it continue at the present rate or increase the rate if necessary!

So, there is but one thing we can expect -- it is but a matter of time until God makes His response to this abominable practice that is nothing less than a putrefying stench in His nostrils, and when He does, it will be somewhat like the sinking of the Titanic on a gigantic scale involving about 285 million people -- everybody will desperately try to find a lifeboat and get off the ship!

Most pathetic of all will be a loud chorus of voices asking the question, "Why has the LORD pronounced all this great disaster against us? Or what is our iniquity? Or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?"

Perhaps a lonely voice here or there from out of nowhere will answer in words similar to a prophet of long, long ago, "Because your fathers have forsaken Me," says the LORD; "they have walked after other gods and have served them and worshiped them, and have forsaken Me and not kept My law. And you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, each one walks according to the imagination of his own evil heart, so that no one listens to Me." (Jeremiah 16:10-12 NKJV).

Uh -- would you like to consider seriously thinking that "partial" thing through one more time?

Yes, there will be those who feel we have made great strides if the banning of partial birth abortions stays on the law books and isn't removed by a ruling of judges who have consciences which compares to the Nazi SS officers mentioned earlier -- and politicians who consider themselves "pro-life" will feel they have added an impressive feather to their hats and we should hold a celebration with the toasting of drinks and dancing in the streets -- BUT all we've done is a "partial" -- a very, very small number of unborn children will be rescued by this legislation!

Or to put it another way, the deadly moral tumor in the abdomen of the United States has only been partially removed -- at least 98% or more of it still remains -- again the question -- is partial good enough? What do you say?

It is time for You to act, O LORD, for they have regarded Your law as void. Therefore I love Your commandments more than gold, yes, than fine gold! Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things I consider to be right; I hate every false way.
Psalm 119:126-128 NKJV
