Rev. Karen Dammann Funds Raise More than $20,000 To Date

Hello there -- Theo, CR's administrative assistant, here! One thing that has to be conceded -- the sodomite/lesbian connection with an abundance of sympathetic supporters is more than willing to put their money where their mouth is! It's almost enough to convince one that an abominable lifestyle really does pay off -- but remember the LAST chapter has yet to be written on all of our human performances which have been played out during this lifetime, including our compliance to God's clearly stated moral standards for sexual behavior or our defiance of those standards -- and guess Who writes that last chapter?
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev. Karen Dammann Funds Raise More than $20,000 To Date
By Larry Fox, convener

When informed this past week that over $20,000 had been raised in their behalf, Rev. Karen Dammann and her partner, Meredith Savage, expressed deep gratitude.

"I was stunned, and when I told Meredith, she was so overwhelmed, she couldn't sleep that night," reported Rev. Dammann. The funds raised to this date will cover the defense team costs of her recent church trial. In addition, it will be of great help with debt incurred during the lengthy process leading to the trial.

An examination of the list of donors contributing the $20,000 is revealing. Over 200 separate donations have been recorded; most were from individuals, although several came from congregations and other groups of supporters.

Twenty-eight states were represented, as well as Washington, D.C. One contribution from Toronto, Canada, gave an international flavor to the response. While many donations came from United Methodists, people from other denominations, along with those claiming no affiliation, contributed as well. The far-reaching impact of this witness by both the Dammann family and the trial court 's (jury) acquittal is a miracle in itself.

Another aspect of this generous response is that the Dammann family will be able to pay down medical bills resulting from son Beckett's respiratory difficulties. The disruption of the normal pattern of employment has meant that for much of the past several years health insurance was unavailable. This led to medical bills of several thousand dollars.

Presently, mother Karen reports that Beckett is doing much better and that "the color has returned to his cheeks." The doctor's assessment is that his immune system is getting stronger. As for the entire Dammann-Savage family, they are enjoying a time of emotional recovery away from the public limelight and contemplating what lies ahead for them as they continue to follow God's call.

Since they continue to face considerable unpaid medical bills, contributions are still needed.

Tax-deductible donations can be made by writing a check to the PNW- RMN (for Pacific Northwest Reconciling Ministries Network) with a notation--"KD Defense Fund"--in the memo line; those checks should be sent to: PNW-RMN, c/o East Vancouver United Methodist Church, 5701 MacArthur Blvd., Vancouver, WA, 98661.

OR contributions to the "Karen Dammann Fund" are being accepted by Washington Mutual Bank branches in Washington and Oregon or mailed to Washington Mutual Bank, 1201 Third Ave., Seattle, WA., 98101.
