"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them." -- Genesis 1:27
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become as one flesh." -- Genesis 2:24
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." -- Proverbs 16:25
As one reads the Bible God's will comes forth and is quite clear. Yet, man has continually tried to find ways around it. Over the past few years we have experienced a new revolt against God by man. Oh, the acts committed are not new but the openness and magnitude of them have increased greatly. And we are continually told that this is the year 2003 and things have changed. What used to be considered sinful and violations of human decency are now becoming acceptable standards.
The concept of the family which has been the basis of civilized nations for centuries is rapidly being destroyed by new definitions of a family; the acceptance of the so-called "alternate life styles" and the examples of morality set forth by rock stars and other "beautiful" people.
Difficult as it is to believe one of the biggest movements on high school and junior high school campuses is "lesbian chic." Pushed by homosexual groups young girls are told that having sex with other females is not only acceptable but is the "in thing" to be doing.
Each day newspapers and television report on and glorify the behavior of movie stars, recording stars and other "idols" of the entertainment industry. Out of wedlock babies are put forth as "love" children and examples of the caring and paternal instincts of those sidestepping marriage and preferring acts of what are called fornication and adultery by scriptures..
Unfortunately, the church in too many incidents has failed to stand forth and say what God considers sinful behavior. Rather, than offer the message of God to those who need it the most, it prefers to tip-toe around the issue and often embraces those same people because of their star status.
But God, was very clear about his plan for family and morality. He set forth that it was to be one man and one woman joining together for their lifetimes. Children were to come from that marriage and not outside those bounds. God's holy word sets out that homosexuality, adultery, fornication and so much of what is called the "new morality' is wrong. And it is the duty of the church to proclaim this in no uncertain terms and with no hesitation.
