Hello there -- Theo here to let you know of information which makes plain the fact that Mel White and the Soulforce gang are planning to be involved at the next session of the General Conference of the United Methodist Church which will be held at Pittsburgh PA in spring of 2004. It is more than an outside possibility that the last UMC General Conference which was held at Cleveland OH in 2000 will be like a kindergarten exercise compared to what will happen in Pittsburgh! The following is a letter that is soliciting help to organize and prepare for protesting at UMC General Conference 2004. As the date approaches more information will be forth coming.

Dear Soulforce Friends,

I am emailing you with exciting news! Already Soulforce is beginning to talk and make plans to attend the United Methodist Conference which will be in Pittsburgh April 27 - May 7, 2004. UMC 2004 General Conference (use return on browser to come back here). Already Soulforce is developing a United Methodist Team to monitor, research and advise Soulforce leadership as we approach the Conference.

We would also like to develop a Soulforce local group in Pittsburgh to help with this event. You are receiving this email because you have attended and participated in at least one Soulforce national action and have been trained in the Soulforce principles of nonviolence. If you are interested in helping to develop a Soulforce Pittsburgh, we would love to hear from you. If you would like to learn more about Soulforce local groups, go to Soulforce and click on "Local Groups." You can then click on "Start Up Kit" and learn what is required to start a local group.

We hope that you will consider becoming a part of the Soulforce grassroots movement and help to mobilize people in Pittsburgh as we plan for 2004.
