First, to whom is this directed?
This area is devoted to those persons who are at that level which is commonly described as the "grass roots" in our culture. Quite a number of these are frustrated with the present religious and political establishments. Furthermore, they are suspicious of the mainstream media which on a daily basis spews out a humanistic/socialistic anti-Christian menu that the public is expected to digest without question or objection!
Often the temptation is to just mumble, grumble and complain in the presence of a few friends and that is the extent of it. Persons who are in mainline church denominations likewise complain about the deplorable state of those, and seeing no significant improvement, are choosing to leave, seeking a place to serve within the fellowship of more conservative groups!

Now is the time to go on record publicly. There are opportunities to attend gatherings in which you can speak up on issues. These can be public assemblies called to deal with issues in schools and communities, or a "town meeting" thing with politicians present. And in the mainline churches there are numerous meetings in which one can address issues and concerns. And when meetings are scheduled with denominational leaders being present, then you have an opportunity to confront them!Warning: Be aware that they may try to intimidate you, or lay a "guilt trip" on you by suggesting that you are a "disloyal" person! Or they may convey a patronizing "superior" attitude -- "I'm more educated than you...I hold a prestigious position...who are you to question....." Part of your preparation should be the use of documented evidence in presenting your "case!" Write a Letter!
By what means?
You can communicate by email, FAX, and letter, which is sometimes referred to as "snail mail." While email is easiest and quickest to get sent, the FAX and the letter are likely to be more effective. And if you really want to get more consideration, send the letter by certified mail with a required signed receipt. Yes, it takes some money, but do you consider the issue to be a critical one? Then let the recipient on the other end know so by spending a bit more money to get it into his/her hands!To whom?
- Local newspaper editors -- send to "Letter to Editor" in care of your local paper -- letters to the editor are widely read and it is an excellent arena in which to express your concerns.
- TV networks and affiliate stations -- you can search and get a listing of the networks and affiliates, with opportunity to post your message, as well as sending an email to managment, news departments etc. For example, check out NBC TV's Home Page. You can branch out to affiliates from there.

- Church contacts All churches have an organizational structure of some kind, with names, addresses, and phone numbers by which you can make contact and voice your convictions and concerns -- in the United Methodist Church one can do a lot of contacting at all levels. For starters consider:
- UMC bishops at: Bishops & Episcopal Areas. Here you get listing of addresses, phone & FAX numbers, and conference web sites. This opens the door for you to let these church leaders know how you feel!
- Agencies, boards, publications, etc can be run down from the Official United Methodist Church Web Site.
- However, the Global Methodist Church has now been formed and consists of those pastors and congregations that have left the United Methodist Church and this group STILL believes the holy Scriptures in their entirety! You can become more familiar with the GMC by going to Global Methodist Church.
For United Methodists - When the time comes, you can communicate your concerns with the delegates from your conference who will be attending the General Conference in Fort Worth, Texas in spring of 2008. These delegates will be chosen at each 2007 annual conference. Now is the time to be researching and following developments within the denomination. Keep these well documented since that is necessary to establish your "case!"
For an example: a letter was sent by cdh to the delegates of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference who were to attend the General Conference in Pittsburgh in the spring of 2004 -- to read it, go to Letter to W PA Conference delegates to GC 2004 in Pittsburgh -- NOTE: use return feature on browser to return here.- If you are really ambitious, you can can visit churches which have web sites and leave a message with them. For instance, the main United Methodist Church web site mentioned above will enable you to go to conferences which in turn will list churches that have web sites which you can visit and leave a message at the guest page or at an email address which will be listed. Most denominational groups will be listing their organizational structures and sites of churches as well which you can contact.
By all means, PRAY!
Never has the challenge been greater to pray in these days of confusion and turmoil. Bear in mind there are both positive and negative aspects in praying, with the ultimate goal being that God's will is accomplished and He alone is glorified and honored through His Son, Jesus Christ. Details on the positive and negative aspects of praying are spelled out at Circuit Rider's Prayer Boot Camp! Psalm 141:5 expresses a deep conviction that God's people need to identify with in times such as these! Further, live each day affirming again and again the following statements from Psalm 119:126-128 & 134-140...It is time for You to act, O LORD, for they have regarded Your law as void. Therefore I love Your commandments more than gold, yes, than fine gold! Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things I consider to be right; I hate every false way..... Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep Your precepts. Make Your face shine upon Your servant, and teach me Your statutes. Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because men do not keep Your law. Righteous are You, O LORD, and upright are Your judgments. Your testimonies, which You have commanded, are righteous and very faithful. My zeal has consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten Your words. Your word is very pure; therefore Your servant loves it.
Be sensitive to opportunities to SERVE!
Big temptation comes when asked to serve in a position of some kind -- community, school, church or ...? Responses often run from "I'm so busy!" all the way to "I don't have ability -- let (you insert name) do it!" Queen Esther was in a critical situation -- she had the opportunity to make a big difference in the future destiny of her people -- her uncle reminded her that perhaps she had come into her prominent position for just a moment such as this! If you haven't read that account for a time, go to the book of Esther and read it. And it may be an opportunity has just opened up for you to serve in a very significant way as a representative of Jesus Christ, His eternal truth, and His everlasting Kingdom!
Exercise your right and privilege to VOTE!
Lots of complaining goes on about the performance or lack thereof on part of elected officials starting with the president himself! Sadly, a lot of this comes from persons who do not exercise the privilege to vote at election time! Yes, I know -- it too often comes down to the frustration of attempting to choose the lesser of two evils! But at least when you cast your ballot, then you have the right to complain, because you did your part in attempting to vote for those persons whom you believed would take responsibility to serve in the best interest of the citizens who elected them. So...make sure you vote when the time comes, OK?What is your position on issues? Take a look at A Political Quiz You are able to respond to questions that will define what your position is on issues we deal with at the present time!
Sow the seed through distributing gospel literature!
Sow the seed through sharing gospel tracts. One of the best is "Steps to Peace with God" available in bulk from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at a very reasonable price. When out shopping place some between cans in a grocery store, in the pocket of clothing in a clothing store. or between hammers in a hardware store, or between some items in a convenience store, etc. You never know when someone may pick up that printed gospel message, read it, repent, and receive Jesus as his/her personal Savior and Lord! Only eternity will reveal the results when we have been resolved to faithfully sow seed!
A final word............
First, I have tried to practice the above mentioned subjects over the years. At one time or another I have communicated with ALL UMC bishops, ALL members of the Congress, many newspaper editors, religious publications, heads of state and embassies, TV networks, etc. Ask me sometime about my letter to the president of South Korea and the response I got! UPDATE February 12,2024 As of this date I am in the process of sending the President, V. President, members of the U.S. Congress, and church leaders (I have done many and am now doing the House of Representatives and United Methodist bishops) the following message:
This is to inform you that Almighty God is calling on all political leaders, church leaders, celebrities, and the citizens of our republic to repent of all known sin! The primary reason is our mutilation and murder of thousands of unborn children each week (U.S. version of Holocaust) for whom God had a wonderful plan and purpose. But other factors such as massive immorality and widespread idolatry have also placed us on the fast track to experiencing God's wrath and devastating judgment! Eventually the whole world will be judged for 3 reasons as revealed in Isaiah 24! So, which will it be > truly repenting and committing to obey Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord or continue to reject His offer of mercy and forgiveness and ultimately experience destruction as many nations in the past have and now lie in ruins?Still contending (Jude 3,4) at www.crrange.com
