Seek the LORD and live, lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, with no one to quench it in Bethel; you who turn justice to wormwood, and lay righteousness to rest in the earth!
For behold, the LORD gives a command: He will break the great house into bits, and the little house into pieces. Do horses run on rocks? Does one plow there with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood...

March 24, 2005 -- I, my wife, and some of our children live in Cambria County which is located in central Pennsylvania. Our home is located about 20 miles due north of the city of Johnstown which has earned the nickname, "Flood City," because of certain happenings over the years.
In this part of Pennsylvania as well as in most other areas of the state, there are certain laws regarding the treatment of animals. There have been incidents in the past where people have been prosecuted and sentenced for the crime of inhumane treatment of animals.
Whoa -- wait just a minute -- a news headline indicates another state has some laws on proper treatment of animals -- how about this out of West Virginia -- it was a news item on the internet on March 25, 2005:
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- It was reported that Kenneth James Watkins, 22, was charged Wednesday with a felony count of animal cruelty for killing an 11-year-old black and white border collie on Tuesday (March 22, 2005). And how did he do this horrible deed? It seems he used two pickaxes to do the "execution!" And why? The dog had been named, Felony, and it reminded him that he had recently been charged with a felony!Yes sir! You've got to walk a fine line in this country when it comes to how you treat animals -- if authorities ever get word that you have mistreated an animal in some way, you'll find yourself facing a judge who will quickly remind you of the very serious consequences of your deed -- Kenneth Watkins now faces a felony count for "animal cruelty!" Now when it comes to treatment of human beings, that's a kitty of another color -- but read on and you'll see
A number of cases involved beatings and others involved starvation and lack of water. Offenders in these known cases were guilty of what were considered criminal acts. Sentences in such cases are very severe -- after all, if you beat an animal, or kill it, or deny it food and water so that it dies as a result, you deserve jail time!
You probably know where this is leading, do you not?
As of this writing (March 24, 2005), Terri Schiavo is slowly dying of starvation and lack of water because a certain judge said her feeding tube must be removed and other judges who had the power to overrule, including the U.S. Supreme Court, have refused to do so, and in a sense have placed a rubber stamp on previous rulings which in unmistakable words say, "Starve her to death!"
Do we dare consider how Almighty God (before Whom all nations, their leaders AND their judges will give an account) looks upon this situation?
We violate the law and do jail time if we starve an animal to death, or if we beat it and mutilate it with the result that it ends up dying!
But judges can rule that a woman's feeding tube must be removed with the result that she suffers a slow agonizing death over days.
And judges in the past have ruled that it is a "constitutional right" to mutilate and murder an unborn child. And in recent months judges have overruled a law that was supposed to protect fully developed unborn children from what has been known as partial-birth abortion -- you know, the baby is fully delivered feet first except for its head -- the "doctor" (term used very loosely) punctures the bottom of its skull with a sharp pointed instrument, sucks out its brains, and then "delivers" the brainless corpse! Certain judges have said that it is "unconstitutional" to protect fully developed unborn children from the aforementioned fate
So if you want to starve a human being to death or dismember and kill an unborn child, go right ahead with the full blessing of the United States justice system!
BUT don't starve your dog or mutilate and kill your cat, you'll be doing time -- it's against the law! And it is definitely considered cruel and inhumane and we can't allow that in the "land of the free and the home of the brave" can we? Besides a lot of judges show no mercy in such cases, especially those who have pet dogs and cats at home!
Millions of unborn children have been intentionally murdered all over
the world over time and the United States has contributed tens of millions
to the total - see latest tally at Number of Abortions
O LORD, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? even cry out to You, "Violence!" And You will not save. Why do You show me iniquity, and cause me to see trouble? For plundering and violence are before me; there is strife, and contention arises. Therefore the law is powerless, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; therefore perverse judgment proceeds.
