A Day Coming in Which All Politicians
Will Be Removed from Office!

There was a time in the early years of our republic that persons who were elected to serve in government felt it was a high privilege and honor to do so.

For the most part these persons took their responsibilities seriously. They attempted to make the interest and well being of the citizens a top priority in the formation and implementation of legislation.

As decades came and went corrupting influences began to set in. Over time quality statesmanship degenerated into what can be commonly referred to now as "self-centered politics" or simply "party politics!"

United States citizens are keenly aware that persons elected to governing positions are immediately suspect in regard to those officials' claims, intentions, promises, and personal goals. The suspicion further carries over into appointments to special positions (e.g. presidential appointments of cabinet secretaries, ambassadors, etc.) and hiring of staff members.

Christians who take the holy Scriptures at face value know that they do not need to despair over the present condition of politics at federal, state, and local levels even though it can be extremely frustrating much of the time, especially when casting one's ballot -- there is too often the tormenting question, "Which is the lesser of two evils?" Still, Christians should be involved in the voting process in spite of the fact that many times disappointments will take place regarding the one for whom you voted. In Pennsylvania a big disappointment took place in the case of our professed pro-life senator embracing our pro-abortion senator and campaigning for the pro-abortion senator's reelection! The pro-life senator had gotten my vote on previous occasions when campaigning for election, but he'll never get it again!

The reason for being optimistic regarding the future of U. S. politics? Didn't you know or haven't you heard? A time is coming when politics as we presently experience it in government due to the repulsive shenanigans of politicians at all levels in our culture will be dramatically ended!

It will not be by an elective process in which all incumbents are replaced by new people. Rather it will be by the personal return of Jesus Christ, His direct intervention in world affairs, and His taking absolute control of all nations on planet earth!

Now there are some rather unpleasant things which will be happening first but details of those matters are for another time.

For now, let's consider that great surprise which Jesus Christ will bring about and the day has come when politicians no longer occupy the office to which they had been elected. In the words of the unforgettable Gomer Pyle, it will be "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!"

It will mean:

no more lavish salaries, obscene benefits, and "perks" which stretch the human imagination to the max doled out to politicians. Want to engage in a most interesting project? Check the salary, the "perks," and retirement "benefits" of your rep in Washington DC or in your state capital and then compare those with that of the average citizen who walks the streets of the cities and towns of this republic. Besides that, how many groups of employees do you know that by their own unrestrained actions determine what salaries, perks, and retirement benefits they are going to receive?

no more scheming and plotting as to how more taxes can be extorted from the citizens at local, state, and federal levels. It will not be all that long before it will take the average citizen nearly 6 months of each year to work and pay for all combined annual taxes -- exacted by the federal, state, and local governments -- the known as well as those elusive ones known as "hidden" taxes -- each year a bit more time is added requiring more work and money to pay all taxes. It's sort of like a severed artery -- the blood just keeps squirting out of control and it can't be stopped! Do you ever get the feeling that Count Dracula would feel very much at home with U.S. politicians?

no more sending young men and women off to engage in senseless conflicts while politicians sit in comfortable air conditioned offices and are waited on by staff people falling over each other! Have you noticed how many sons and daughters of politicians are up front "point persons" in such places as Iraq and Afghanistan?

no more outrageous "pork barrel" legislation which channels millions of dollars into a politician's home area for some of the most ridiculous projects and continues to help escalate the national debt. This, of course, is a highly preferred vote buying gimmick which has been used for years and years. It's one of many advantages which an incumbent politician has over any challenger who comes along. Once in office the politician's priority becomes one of making sure he/she holds on to his/her elected office forever and a day! How this works can be seen by imagining a very obese man sitting at the table gorging himself on very expensive food while sitting on the floor beside his chair is a little hungry dog. After the fat guy has cleaned his thick T-bone steak down to the bone, he tosses it to the little dog which wags its tail and begins gnawing on the bone! Guess who the dog is -- yea, you got it right -- the dog is US!

no more campaigns in which total expenses more than qualify for the label, "vulgar," and amount to millions upon millions of dollars. Grand totals spent in a U.S. presidential election are beyond human comprehension, and these people don't even blink an eye about it. In addition, it appears that the conscience of these people is so deadened about the spending of astronomical amounts of money to get elected that they can even get hours of uninterrupted sleep night after night!

no more sanctioning of massive destruction of the unborn by a large number of politicians and no more foot-dragging and waffling on the part of those politicians who claim to be "pro-life."

no more favoritism shown to powerful lobbyists and their special interest groups which always means that the average citizen would once again be stabbed in the back in the whole process!

Now then -- when Jesus Christ makes that sudden and spectacular return to earth, what then?

It will mean:

    the total defeat of opposing forces which constitute a massive military machine sanctioned by governments from all over the world. It is most interesting to observe how Jesus is portrayed in that great conflict in which all the assembled military forces of the world are totally destroyed -- for help on this, see Revelation 19:11-21:
      Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great." And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. -- Revelation 19:11-21

    the dismantling of all political structures in whatever form they may have existed -- no exceptions on this one -- for help on this, see Psalm 2. The distinguishing features of Jesus' rule have been predicted in Isaiah 11:1-9 -- even to a casual observer, the stark contrast as to Jesus' rule and how politicians operate (especially in the United States) cannot be denied.

      Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, "Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us." He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The LORD shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ' 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.'" Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. -- Psalm 2

      There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears; but with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, and faithfulness the belt of His waist. "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him, and His resting place shall be glorious." It shall come to pass in that day that the LORD shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left, from Assyria and Egypt, from Pathros and Cush, from Elam and Shinar, from Hamath and the islands of the sea. -- Isaiah 11:1-11

    Jesus' sovereignty is clearly established on earth -- see 1 Timothy 6:12-16. Remember -- ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, governing powers, in whatever form they have existed, have for the most part been anti-God, or at best have given some lip service to God occasionally. Part of the embarrassing record in U.S. history is the fact that while giving our "lip service" we have officially declared certain places off limits to God such as public schools and in certain areas known as "government property." Court battles are just beginning to heat up on the latter issue.

      Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ's appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. -- 1 Timothy 6:12-16

    all nations will be scrutinized and judged by Him -- see Matthew 25:31-46

      "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' "Then they also will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' "Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." -- Matthew 25:31-46

    Jerusalem will become the world capitol and the center of Jesus' administration -- see Isaiah 24:21-23

      It shall come to pass in that day that the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones, and on the earth the kings of the earth. They will be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and will be shut up in the prison; after many days they will be punished. Then the moon will be disgraced and the sun ashamed; for the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before His elders, gloriously. -- Isaiah 24:21-23

    • nations will agree to come to Jerusalem to be instructed in God's ways
        Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; he will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and shall rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. -- Isaiah 2:2-4

    • Jerusalem will be known as a "city of truth"
        "Thus says the LORD: 'I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, the Mountain of the LORD of hosts, the Holy Mountain.' "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each one with his staff in his hand because of great age. The streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.'" -- Zechariah 8:3-5

    • Jerusalem will be known as a city safely inhabited and violence free
        All the land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be raised up and inhabited in her place from Benjamin's Gate to the place of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananeel to the king's winepresses. The people shall dwell in it; and no longer shall there be utter destruction, but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. -- Zechariah 14:10,11

    • Jerusalem is described as being a royal diadem in the hand of God
        For Zion's sake I will not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns. The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD will name. You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. -- Isaiah 62:1-7

    saints in their resurrection glory will share in Jesus' administration and rule on earth

      Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? -- 1 Corinthians 6:2,3

      "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne." -- Revelation 3:21

For those few who are willing to accept the reality of Jesus' promised and personal return to earth followed by His taking full control in the affairs of all nations, what does this mean in terms of responsibility in the meantime?

It means:

    one is to live in anticipation of His glorious return -- that is, a lifestyle which exhibits the holiness of God and by personal witness giving evidence that you are expecting the return of Jesus Christ at any possible moment -- Titus 2
      For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. -- Titus 2:11-14

    one is to be busy and involved in the Lord's work -- namely, seeking ways by which the parting command of Jesus is fully implemented in one's personal experience and in the life of one's church

      Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. -- Matthew 28:18-20

      "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. -- Matthew 24:42-51

    faithfulness in sounding the warning of possible judgment -- witness to the fact that God does judge sin on both the personal and the collective levels

      "Cry aloud, spare not; lift up your voice like a trumpet; tell My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins." -- Isaiah 58:1

      "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul." -- Ezekiel 3:17-21

Don't ever forget -- God's many promises which He has made concerning His impending intervention in the flow of human history and the establishing of a new world order under the personal rule and authority of Jesus Christ. It's the assurance of these promises and their fulfillment at some future point in time that enables the Christian to hold his or her head up and walk through each day with rock solid confidence that things will not always be as they are now in this chaotic, confused and often violent world!

A Post Script: Likely there will be statements about politicians as given above which may upset some people -- especially if they are politicians themselves, or are very supportive of a favorite politician, whether the president, member of the U.S. Congress or a local dude living next door! I confess to be greatly influenced by the prophets of the Old Testament and their observations of the governing authorities in the times in which they lived -- it's as though they were describing the political scene in the United States as it really is! Oh, you don't believe that? Then take a walk through the prophetic writings of the Old Testament and see for yourself -- don't just skim them -- go slowly, prayerfully, and give serious thought to what you are reading. Then after you have made your trip, go back and do it again -- you'll be amazed at what God will show you -- not just about government corruption, but also corruption in the religious establishment and the betrayal of religious leadership -- not a very pretty scene!

Also, bear in mind that while there was quite a bit of focus on politics U.S.A. style, all government leaders will come under the scope of Jesus' "house-cleaning" operation, once it has begun! This means every dictator, prime minister, premier, members of parliaments, or a 2-bit self appointed dictatorial heathen who "rules" from a throne made of human bones in the middle of a jungle!

So indeed it is very good news that we have the hope that one of these days Jesus Christ will take full control of this world and rule it by His power -- yes, it can be said that it will truly be "heaven on earth!" -- cdh
